What is Outreach?

Outreach work is bringing services and resources to those in need.

At StreetWorks, we conduct street outreach to young people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. We do this with a focus on safety, non-judgement, harm reduction and relationships.

StreetWorks’ outreach workers have:

 – A desire to serve others and build relationships.

Trained in basic counseling, outreach workers take the time to listen, process and problem solve with you.

 – Connections to programs and resources.

Outreach workers know the Twin Cities and spend time at the local food shelves, emergency shelters and schools. They can connect you with local organizations providing low-cost medical care, transitional housing, meals, and more.

 – The supplies you need (and some you didn’t know you needed).

Without a stable place to live, you’re probably lacking nice things like socks, soap and toothpaste. Outreach workers carry those things. They also may have school supplies or even camping gear.

We Begin With the Basics

Basic needs are addressed first. Do you have a toothbrush? Are you sleeping somewhere safe tonight? After that, we help you find ways to gain stability in your housing situation.
